Hong Kong Sourcefount Press Attends 48th FIPP World Media Congress, Advancing Cross-Border Cooperation in Academic Publishing

Oct 23,2026

The 48th FIPP World Media Congress was held in Madrid, Spain, from 13 to 15 October, drawing more than 400 publishers, editors-in-chief and heads of media organisations from over 40 countries. Hong Kong Sourcefount Press Limited attended the Congress, holding talks with publishers, publishing groups and other institutions from a number of countries on international copyright cooperation for academic journals and multilingual publication of academic monographs.

Organised by FIPP, the international federation of periodical publishers, the Congress is the largest annual gathering of the global magazine media industry. Under the theme "FIPP 101: The Fundamentals of Media's Future", this year's programme examined how artificial intelligence is reshaping publishing, journal subscriptions and membership, audience growth and the value of print, offering forward-looking perspectives on the industry's transformation.

During the Congress, representatives of Sourcefount Press spoke with publishers from Europe and Latin America, presenting the company's portfolio and publishing practice in academic journals and monographs. Discussions covered the licensing of journal rights overseas, open access publishing models, digital licensing of academic content, AI-assisted publishing workflows and the proofreading of multilingual editions.

The Congress provided a new opportunity for Sourcefount Press to advance its international development. The company said it will draw on Hong Kong and Macao's position as a bridge between Chinese and international academia to build long-term channels for dialogue, continue expanding cooperation with overseas publishing institutions, and help high-quality academic research reach readers across borders.
